Welcome

My name is Geraint Parry, let me introduce myself as a researcher and teacher. I am a Plant Cell Biologist and have the benefit of working in an area that I am passionate about. I am driven by the process of scientific discovery and by the opportunity to pass on the experiences I have had to the next generation of young scientists.

During my career I have been successful in generating high quality research, published in journals such as PNAS, Nature Cell Biology and Plant Cell. I have also had the opportunity to teach students both in formal lectures and in the lab environment where I take great pride in my ability to simply explain complex scientific concepts and to stimulate an interest in research.

I have recently taken a position as a Lecturer at the University of Liverpool where I plan to develop my research program to investigate the Nuclear Pore Complex (NPC) in Arabidopsis. At this time we know very little about this critical macromolecular complex so obtaining a fuller understanding of the NPC will resolve a major knowledge gap and represent an important milestone in plant developmental biology. I am constantly thinking about this system, the research directions we can take and am applying for grants to bring new researchers into the lab. Therefore if you are interested in being a part of the lab then don't hesitate to email me.

Read a little more about me here on the pages of PlantCellBiology.com
The development of my research, mentoring and communication skills benefited greatly from spending productive years working with Professor Mark Estelle and Dr Scott Michaels. My previous scientific contributions involved initially characterizing the plant NPC, deciphering  the mechanisms that control expression of auxin receptor proteins and analysis patterns of histone modification and DNA replicaton (see previous research).

I hope you find something here to interest you on these pages and I encourage you to contact me with any further questions or queries about working in my lab at geraint.parry@liverpool.ac.uk
